Our strikers failed us, says RCCG's coach Ganiyu #2017LSFACUP

The tactician has faulted his attackers for failing to convert most of the chances they created in their FA Cup game

Province 23 RCCG football club head coach, Tobi Ganiyu says he was disappointed with his strikers who failed to convert all the chances they created in their defeat to Star Base FC in the Lagos FA Cup at the Agege Stadium on Thursday.

Olanrewaju Muyideen gave Star Base the lead in the fifth minute before Seyi Jamiu’s 27th minute equaliser, but they crashed out 5-4 on penalties.

“Our only weakness was our attackers who failed to deliver when we needed them to, but it was good enough for me to recognise a problem that needed my immediate attention,” Ganiyu told Goal.

“Our defenders and midfielders did well in ensuring that they distributed passes but our strikers could not convert all the chances we created.

''Penalty shootout is a game of luck, but the whole team is still very sad after the loss, but we just have to console ourselves and move past the defeat.

“The team we lost to are not better than us because we have more ball possessions better than them from the start of the game, and the only chance they got was the one they scored earlier in the game, but we wasted many chances before eventually getting the equalizer later on.''
