Stuart Binny Had An Immense Contribution In First-Class Cricket – Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, former India captain and current BCCI President, lauded Stuart Binny for his “immense contribution” in India’s first-class cricket while congratulating the allrounder for an illustrious domestic career after he announced his retirement from all forms of the game.

Stuart Binny represented Karnataka for the most part of his career and then switched to Nagaland towards the end. He played 95 first-class matches, scoring 4796 runs at an average of 34.25, in addition to picking 148 wickets. He featured in 100 List-A matches and 150 T20s, including 95 IPL games for Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Sourav Ganguly hailed allrounder’s 17-year domestic career in a congratulatory statement from the BCCI.

“I would like to wish Stuart Binny all the very best for his future endeavours. He has had a long career. First-Class cricket is the base for a good international set up and Stuart has had an immense contribution in that. His contribution for Karnataka State Cricket Association, which has produced so many players of repute, will be written in golden letters. I wish him all the success in his life,” Ganguly stated in an official BCCI release.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah too was effusive in praise for Stuart, son of 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny, for his commitment towards the game and termed him as an ‘inspiration’ to youngsters.

“Stuart Binny has been a true servant of Indian cricket and the all-rounder has contributed heavily in the domestic circuit as well. His dedication and sincerity towards the game shall be an inspiration for the future cricketers who are looking to pursue the game. I wish Stuart good luck for the future,” Jay Shah stated.

Stuart Binny represented India in 6 Tests, 14 ODIs and 3 T20Is, his last appearance coming in 2016. His haul of 6/4 against Bangladesh in 2014 remains the best bowling figures by an Indian in ODIs. He is a Level 2 coach with the National Cricket Academy, and may take up coaching in his new innings.
