The 2020 Formula 1 season resumes at the Red Bull Ring (yes, again) today with Lewis Hamilton driving superbly in the treacherous rain to claim pole position.

The six-time world champion qualified 1.2 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, the Red Bull star who will be determined to bounce back from last week's disappointment.

Carlos Sainz saw his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris finished on the podium last weekend but the Spaniard earned a great chance of making it back-to-back podiums for McLaren by qualifying third.

Last time out, Verstappen started on the front row and had an alternative strategy to his rivals rivals at the front of the grid, starting on medium tyres. He had every reason to belive he could make it three wins on the spin in the Styrian hills, but an issue with the Red Bull's anti-stall put paid to his race early on.

Team-mate Alex Albon also had a sniff when the safety car played into his hands late in last weekend's opener, but another collision with Lewis Hamilton ended his hopes of a podium, with Hamilton handed a five-second penalty as a result of the incident.

That meant it was a disappointing weekend for the world champion, who crossed the finish line in second but was pipped to the podium by Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris once his penalty had been added.

There were no such issues for Hamilton's team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who led from start to finish to lay down a marker for the new campaign. But just seven days on we a are back at the same venue, with the changing weather set to make it an intriguing race.

Will Ferrari's upgrades haul them into the frame, will Racing Point bite back in their battle with McLaren, will Mercedes' sensor issue rear its head again?
