A SUBWAY restaurant in Bournemouth town centre has closed its doors “until further notice”.

The sandwich franchise suddenly closed its site in Post Office Road, just off Old Christchurch Road, on or before Monday, May 29.

A notice on the door reads: “Sorry, this store will be closed until further notice. You are welcome at our nearest branch located at 166 Old Christchurch Road.”

No other information has been provided for its closure, or when it plans to reopen.

There are other branches located in Holdenhurst Road, Lansdowne, and Poole Road, Westbourne.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Subway was exploring a possible sale of the business. The price of the company is reported to be around $10 billion.

In February, it announced record sales for the second year in a row. It said same-store sales rose 9.2 per cent last year, compared to 2021.

There are more than 2,200 Subway branches across the UK.

Subway has been approached for more information.
