It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.
The Black Ferns triumphed over the Red Roses in an absolutely packed Eden Park that broke the record for the highest attendance at a Women’s rugby match. What a game and what a tournament.
Fan favourite Ruby Tui gives one of the most powerful and moving interviews you will see. The Black Fern leads the crowd in chants whilst she bursts with pride. Goosebumps moment!
In typical Tui fashion, her influence did not stop at the post-match interview as she took time out to engage with fans and thank them for their influence and interest in the game. The wing very quickly turned herself into an icon of the Women’s game.
The Wayne Smith Slam!! Massive credit to the Black Ferns coach, who has been part of World Cup victories in both the Women’s and Men’s games. No doubt Eddie Jones will remain obsessed.
Absolute class! Canadian wing Maddy Grant gives her shirt to a young fan in the crowd. Look at how much it means to the youngster. This is just one of many moving moments in what was an excellent World Cup.
November has been an epic marathon of rugby! The Women’s World Cup was loaded with drama and emotion, coupled with an outrageous run of fixtures in the Autumn Nations Series. A true test of a rugby fan’s stamina.
France defeated South Africa in a memorable Test in Marseille and continue to add to their growing list of scalps. With 12 wins on the bounce, Les Bleus is some team at the moment.
Another Springbok loss, another Rassie Erasmus video. The Springboks director of rugby once again makes strong suggestions with a video on Twitter whilst posting a ‘heartfelt’ caption about the game. Surely he must be treading on thin ice?
As if the Springboks’ clash with France was not crazy enough! Cheslin Kolbe sits the considerably bigger Anthony Jelonch down with impressive strength from the diminutive wing.
Structured yet simple. What a try this was from Italy, who wrote history on Saturday with their first win against the Wallabies.
How can one not be a fan of the hard-working Welsh skipper!! Have a look at Justin Tipuric with his fanbase, all dressed in blue headgear. Lovely stuff.
