Sunderland squander two-goal lead to draw with managerless Coventry City
Championship leaders Sunderland squandered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with managerless Coventry. Wilson Isidor and Dennis Cirkin scored in the first half before Haji Wright offered hope for the Sky Blues, who sacked long-serving manager Mark Robins on Thursday.
Jack Rudoni scored six minutes from time to earn Coventry, with Rhys Carr in caretaker charge, a point. Sunderland go into the international break on the back of three successive draws
The Black Cats are two points clear of Leeds, who moved up to second with a 2-0 win over lowly QPR. Jayden Bogle scored after 19 minutes before Joel Piroe netted a second in stoppage time. Leeds leapfrogged Sheffield United, who play rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, while QPR – with only one win this season – dropped to the foot of the table.

Colby Bishop scored on his first appearance after having heart surgery as Portsmouth moved off the bottom by securing only a second victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Preston. Josh Murphy and Conor Ogilvie scored in the first half, with Emil Riis pulling one back after the break. Bishop struck from the penalty spot on 88 minutes, 10 minutes after coming on, to seal the win.
Middlesbrough thrashed struggling Luton 5-1 to move into the play-off places. Delano Burgzorg and Finn Azaz both netted twice for Michael Carrick’s side, with Emmanuel Latte Lath also on target.
Jordan Clark grabbed a consolation for Luton, but the Hatters have lost five of their last nine matches and are only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
Millwall slipped out of the top six after their four-game winning streak was brought to end by a 1-1 draw at Stoke. Josh Coburn put Millwall ahead but Ben Gibson levelled after the break.
Andi Weimann scored twice as Blackburn ended a run of four games without a goal with a 3-1 win at Cardiff. Norwich are six games without a win after losing 2-0 at home to Bristol City, while Derby and Plymouth drew 1-1.
