Super League Round 6 attendances as Leeds record bumper Saturday crowd
Leeds Rhinos recorded a bumper crowd of 14,321 during Saturday’s 32-22 victory against Catalans at Headingley Stadium, live on Channel 4.
Rohan Smith’s side had found themselves 22-8 down at the break before completing a stunning second-half comeback in front of the cameras.
The crowd was the biggest of the latest round of Super League action. It’s Leeds’ second largest of the year so far – having recorded a home crowd of 16,140 during Round Two against Hull FC.
Elsewhere in Super League
Wigan’s home fixture with Salford saw the next best attendance with 11,497 inside the DW Stadium on Friday night. The Warriors are yet to see their crowds drop below 11,000 with attendances so far including 12,306 and 11,451.
Matt Peet’s side also completed a late comeback for a 20-16 victory thanks to tries from Bevan French and Toby King.
Hull FC announced an attendance of 10,952 for Saturday’s home fixture with Leigh. Tony Smith fell to his fourth defeat as Hull boss with a 24-16 score against Adrian Lam’s Leopards.
The MKM Stadium side hold an average attendance of 12,552 from their three home fixtures so far this year.
7,384 watched on as Warrington continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 38-0 win over Castleford at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Wakefield recorded their highest of the year so far with 4,705 against Hull KR on Friday. Mark Applegarth’s side fell to a 34-6 defeat at home, with Jai Whitbread scoring their only try.
Finally, Thursday night’s televised match from the John Smith’s Stadium posted an attendance of 4,684 between Huddersfield and St Helens. The world champions held on for a 14-12 victory away from home.
A total of 53,507 supporters attended a game during Round Five.
