Cadwell BSB: Lowes quickest in second practice session

The Lincolnshire lad set a 1’27.613 with only five minutes left of the free practice outing, and overtook Brookes on the timesheets. The Aussie pushed hard and managed to force his way into the 1’27’s, but it was not enough and Lowes finished the afternoon only two tenths of a second quicker than Brookes’ best lap of 1’27.814.

The Aussie did lead the charge for the majority of the session, with Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne at one point taking the reigns and clocking his best lap of 1’28.218 fifteen minutes into the session. The current champ was not able to better that time and ended the afternoon fourth fastest.

The weather was more forgiving this afternoon, and the rain held off while the bikes were out on the Cadwell Park circuit. Brookes’ American team-mate PJ Jacobsen made the most of the dry period and emulated his more experienced colleague and set a time that was fast enough to place him inside the top three, with a 1’28.125.

Samsung Honda’s Ryuichi Kiyonari could not reach the top of the timesheets like he did in the opening session this morning, and had to settle for fifth quickest, followed by Halsall Racing’s Tommy Bridewell and Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison.

Buildbase BMW Jon Kirkham out paced his team-mate James Westmoreland to place himself inside the top ten times. The tall lad was in twelfth but in the dying seconds pushed his way to eighth, with Quattro Plant’s Chris Walker and GBmoto’s Dan Linfoot rounding off the top ten.
