Poole makes step up from Superstock to British Superbikes

His team decided, with the backing of race director Stuart Higgs, to have a rider in the main class, as well as keeping racers in the Superstock 600 and 1000 series.

Poole, who hails from Kettering, is excited about the prospect of racing alongside the likes of Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne, but knows how hard it will be to take the big leap from the Stock class to the main races in the championship.

He will be on the BSB starting grid at the next round at Oulton Park.

“We are luckily enough to decide to take a step up and go to Superbike for the rest of the year. It is a big challenge for me and the rest of the team, but it will lay the foundations for the next couple of years. It has been a frustrating year in Superstock for me, and we have seen that Superbike is achievable for us. It is a bit late in the season in terms of development, and in a selfish way I would like to tick that list and ride,” Poole told

Lack of time and preparation means that the bike will be a bit of a ‘hybrid’ as it will still have the Stock 1000 engine and will still be using the same Kawasaki for the BSB races, but Poole is confident his team can make it work.

“From Oulton Park I will be in Superbike class. It will be the same bike, it will not be a fully fledged Superbike but it will be a hybrid, as we will run the Stock engine because of the time and budget allows but it will be a good bike. All the sponsors are helping us out as they see what we are trying to achieve and being in the Superbike class has made it easier to get sponsors, and it is really great. Initially I want to get on the grid for Oulton and the team need to do some development that weekend and see if we can work our way forward."
