Competition is now expected to start on Thursday morning, when a solid swell is forecast and waves in the two-to-three foot range are anticipated.

That should build to a solid seven feet as the day progresses and by Friday waves should be in the six-to-eight foot range.

The event has a two-week holding period during which three or four days of surfing are to be completed, leaving no concerns regarding the proper completion of the tournament.

Organisers are running a series of entertainment events on the beach, which are set to carry on as planned during periods of inaction.
