Following the international break, Swansea City will be back in action against Man United on the weekend. It’s the club’s final push for Premier League safety.

That’s right – we’re not safe.. yet! So here are five things we can do to help guarantee the Swans are in the top flight next season.

#1 – Beat the teams we should

This is probably the most important and obvious point, which is why it’s first on the list! Of the seven games coming up, it’s imperative that we beat the teams around and below us in the table. Classic six pointers to keep ’em down there.

Looking ahead, this would be the games against West Brom, Bournemouth and Stoke. There is absolutely no negotiation over these. Even draws probably aren’t good enough at this stage.

Putting 100 per cent into winning these three games is crucial. If Swansea succeed, the nine points will bring us to the magic 40 point mark, where safety is pretty much guaranteed.

#2 – Kill a giant

Alternatively, go out and beat United. Or City. Or Chelsea.

This isn’t a priority, but as we know that beating some of the smaller teams will be very tough – as they’ll be fighting for their lives too – it may be an easier option to try to take down a giant. Especially one with little to play for.

While I can’t imagine we’ll get much from Man City, we know Everton aren’t really a giant and are pretty shocking this season. United have also been a bit shaky, while I just have a feeling about Chelsea at the Liberty Stadium…

Even a draw or two against one of the bigger boys would go a long way to securing safety.

#3 – Don’t get too confident

The last couple of months under Carlos Carvalhal have been blissful in comparison to what Swansea were doing under Paul Clement. However, despite some of the wins and points picked up, there can’t be any arrogance going into the final two months of the season.

I think the poor FA Cup loss to Spurs – on reflection – was quite good for survival, as it showed that Swansea under Carlos Carvalhal are not invincible. This may help quash any arrogance that was lingering following a few very good wins. Confidence is important, but overconfidence can be dangerous.

#4 – No more injuries

Perhaps not the easiest thing to control, but Swansea’s squad has been pretty depleted all season. In fact, we seemed to become weaker after ‘strengthening’ in both transfer windows!

Which is why we can’t afford any more injuries. Take out one of the Ayew brothers, a key defender, or – God forbid – Lukasz Fabianski, and this season could be heading for a very miserable end.

#5 – Get behind the team

While Swans fans can’t help on the pitch (no matter how much we may want to), we can get behind the team for the final push.

It’s been a tough season for supporters – turning up week in week out to see messy performance after messy performance, loss after loss. No wonder the atmosphere at the Liberty has been meek compared to previous years. Things have certainly changed in the past few months under Carvalhal, but now is the time to really turn the Liberty back into a fortress.
