Sweden win play-off to earn medal chance

Sweden will be in with a chance of glory at the Curling World Championships after thrashing New Zealand in the play-off match.

The two sides had both finished with seven wins and four losses in the round robin stage, prompting a head-to-head match to see who would face Norway in the third v fourth play-off.

And Swedish skip Sebastian Kraupp took charge of the match from the off, picking up a 5-0 lead by the fourth end before finishing things off in the seventh end.

Canada will play Scotland in the first v second play-off match on Saturday, with the winner progressing directly to the final.

The loser of that match will have another chance to make the final when they take on the winner of the Norway v Sweden clash. The remaining two sides will then fight it out for the bronze.
