Trent Alexander-Arnold has cheekily told his Instagram followers to 'trust him to make the switch' as part of his latest brand deal. This is said under the context of his Liverpool contract expiring at the end of the season while Wednesday's opponents at Anfield, Real Madrid, remain hotly linked with snapping up the 26-year-old.

When the Reds are not dominating the conversation with their on-field results, it is often three key names dictating the discussion. They are Mohamed Salah - especially after his huge contract revelation on Monday - as well as captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Alexander-Arnold.

A local lad, 26 years old on the verge of his so-called prime years in football, supporters of Liverpool remain intent with their hope of the latter committing his long-term future to Anfield.

The longer this goes on the more nerves grow, especially as chatter about a free transfer to Real Madrid has increased as they are expected on Merseyside for a Champions League tie on Wednesday.

And in the middle of this contract limbo, the full-back's latest Instagram post featured the caption 'Trust me to make the switch...'. This wasn't about moving the Spanish capital or any other destination though, as he added 'To Google Pixel', followed by the winking emoji:

The message was actually for a new marketing campaign with the tech giant, plus the caption itself was a triple entendre. Those who are clued up their football lingo will know that switching the ball means making a sweeping cross-field pass - something Alexander-Arnold has mastered during his years in the Reds' first-team but it didn't stop supporters online from doing a double-take upon seeing the post.

Google Pixel have also been a brand partner with Liverpool since August 2023, with their name seen and interactive mobile features used across Anfield.
