Pakistan captain Babar Azam has stated that Virat Kohli‘s Indian team would be more under pressure than Pakistan when they face off in the T20 World Cup later in the year.

The arch-rivals will meet in Dubai on October 24 for the first game of Group 2 in the Super 12 stage. India and Pakistan last clashed in the 2019 World Cup, where the Men In Blue triumphed over their neighbors. India have also never lost to Pakistan in a World Cup match, be it 50-over or 20-over World Cup.

India and Pakistan are clubbed together with New Zealand and Afghanistan in Group 2, while England, West Indies, South Africa, and Australia are placed in Group 1. 4 teams will also join in the two groups after qualifying from ‘Round 1’.

Babar Azam recently met Ramiz Raja, the new PCB Chairman.

Following the meeting, he told reporters, “I think India will be under more pressure as compared to Pakistan during the World Cup match. We would like to start our campaign by defeating India.”

It is like playing at our home ground when we play at UAE: Babar Azam

Babar Azam also said the Pakistan cricketers will feel like playing at home when they will turn up in the UAE as all the players have spent a lot of time playing cricket in the UAE, be it in international matches or in the PSL.

“It is like playing at our home ground when we play at UAE venues and we want to give our 100 percent on the field coupled with that,” he added

About the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand in Rawalpindi, the skipper said:

“We are facing issues in the middle-order and this series is a good opportunity for players making a comeback to cement their place in the side.”

Later this month, the Men In Green host the Kiwis for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is as part of their preparation matches for the T20 World Cup. They will also play host to England for 2 T20Is a couple of days before the tournament begins.
