Roma striker Tammy Abraham says he is ‘happy’ at the Italian club, although he has also made an enticing claim about his future.

The Englishman left Chelsea in August and has gone on to have a fantastic campaign under Jose Mourinho at Roma. He bagged 17 goals in 37 Serie A matches, helping the Giallorossi finish sixth in the table.

Abraham also found the net nine times in 13 Europa Conference League games as Roma won the inaugural competition.

They beat Feyenoord 1-0 in the final thanks to a first-half goal from Italian winger Nicolo Zaniolo.

While Abraham didn’t get on the scoresheet in the final, his goals have been crucial to Roma finding success in Mourinho’s first season in charge.

They bought him for £34million last summer, while Chelsea reportedly have a £68m buy-back clause which activates in 2023.

Arsenal are supposedly keeping tabs on his situation as they look to revamp their centre-forward options.

Other targets include Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ollie Watkins and Victor Osimhen.

Tammy Abraham makes admission on future

During a recent interview with BT Sport, Abraham was asked about a transfer away from the Stadio Olimpico.

While he is ‘satisfied’ playing for Roma, the attacker also says ‘you never know what the future holds’ – suggesting a move could occur this summer or next.

“I would say I’m more than happy here,” Abraham said (via Metro). “Just the experience here, I had the experience of just the derby game [vs Lazio].

“Derby games of course are big, but here they filled the roads weeks before the game. That’s all they were talking about.

“We had another game before it, they [the fans] weren’t even talking about that game, they were saying, ‘We have to beat Lazio’. Just the rivalry, the atmosphere in the stadium, just everything is incredible.

“So I’m happy here. You never know what the future holds, you can’t write the future, but as far as it is I’m satisfied.”

A transfer to Arsenal would be a real signal of intent from the Gunners. Abraham already has experience scoring in the Prem and is a full England international, too.

But their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League could cost them. Roma are set to play in the Europa League in 2022-23, just like Arsenal. This means a switch to the Emirates may not actually be a step up for Abraham.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly been given a boost in their hopes of landing Youri Tielemans from Leicester.
