Team manager leaves Prodrive Mini

Autosport

Former Mini World Rally Team team manager Campbell Roy has left the Banbury-based outfit.

Roy had been at the heart of what was the factory Mini team and his departure will leave a void in the management side of the renamed Prodrive WRC Team. Prodrive stalwart and former Subaru World Rally Team operations director Paul Howarth will take over Roy's role.

A Prodrive source said: "We will miss Campbell, he was one of the hard working guys who made sure everything was done with no corners cut. It's a big loss for us."

Roy, who joined the team 12 months ago, was unavailable for comment when AUTOSPORT contacted him.

Prodrive's Richard Taylor confirmed a reshuffle of staff last week, reflecting the Banbury firm's loss of manufacturer status - although the team and the ongoing development of the Mini John Cooper Works WRC is still funded by the BMW Group.

Prodrive recently revealed the latest upgrades for the Mini - with more than 100 improvements on the car available (FIA homologation this week pending) from the Rally of Portugal onwards.
