An 11-year-old girl has been left frightened after a group of youths allegedly "threatened to rape her" and "one exposed themselves to her".

Police have released a public appeal stating a young girl and a friend were walking through Noremarsh Park in Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday, May 20.

A group of young boys, estimated to have been between 13 and 15-years-old, are said to have targeted the two girls with "inappropriate sexual comments, sexual harassment and lewd behaviour".

A post on the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Police Facebook page about the incident has urged the public to contact the force if they have relevant information.

"A group of unknown male youths aged between 13 and 15 years have approached IP who is 11 years old and shouted comments of a sexual nature," a police spokesperson said.

"They have asked IP and her friend to have sex with them and mentioned raping.

"One youth has exposed himself to IP.

"The incident has frightened IP and her friend who have left the park."

Wiltshire Police are now looking to identify any of the young boys involved, and have shared a picture of a group of boys they'd like to talk to.
