Alex Telles has exited Manchester United as the former Porto defender has joined La Liga outfit Sevilla on a season-long loan deal.

The Red Devils are entering a fresh era under their new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has had a lot to deal with and in typical Man Utd fashion, not everything has gone to plan.

Could Jamie Vardy join the Leicester talent drain for a Chelsea or Man Utd pay-day?

Cristiano Ronaldo has been acting up while they have wasted time in attempting to sign Frenkie de Jong.

Their first signing this summer was Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. With Luke Shaw and Telles at the club, one was always going to leave this summer.

With Telles often playing second fiddle to the Englishman, he was likely to be the one to leave. Man Utd confirmed on Thursday that he has joined Sevilla on loan.

Telles (via Twitter) has left the door open to return to United, saying: “To everyone at United: colleagues, staff, fans. I will be supporting and cheering you on all season. Thanks for the moments so far.”

This may be wishful thinking on the player’s part as Ten Hag has made it clear that he is not part of his plans.

With Ronaldo’s future still uncertain, Ten Hag will be even more reliant on forwards currently at Man Utd.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho both underperformed last season. In their defence, they were not on their own in that.

Rashford looked shot of confidence after returning from shoulder surgery, while Sancho has taken time to adapt following his move from Borussia Dortmund.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann thinks both players will be given the platform to improve under Ten Hag next season:

“[Erik Ten Hag] is a manager who can develop players,” Hamann told safebettingsites.com.

“He did it at [Bayern] Munich when he was in charge of the second team and did the same in Amsterdam with Ajax. If they [Sancho and Rashford] can’t do it under Ten Hag, I think it gets tougher and tougher.

“You’ve only got so many years to fulfil your potential, and when Rashford burst onto the scene everyone was taken aback by what they saw. Young players need confidence, but they’re not getting any younger.

“But they’ve got a manager now who does know how to get the best out of them and then it’s up to them.”
