Ten Hag makes big admission about Man Utd future as bombshell exit claim unravels
Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has pledged his future to the club after an observer sensationally claimed he might be sacked when the new owners complete their takeover.
Man Utd were put up for sale by the Glazer family in November. There was a ‘soft’ deadline for interested parties to put their names forward on Friday. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the two confirmed bidders are Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
While Ten Hag has done a great job since becoming Man Utd manager in the summer, a takeover of the club clearly brings with it a lot of uncertainty.
And on February 10, Dutch analyst Chris Woerts predicted Ten Hag would be sacked and replaced with a big-name manager if Qataris won the race to buy Man Utd.
“There is a big battle going on between the Qatari side and Jim Ratcliffe,” Woerts said.
“If the Qataris take over, you will get the same situation as with Manchester City at the time. There it is a kind of FC Barcelona [version] two.
“They put their own management, their own coach and their own commercial director. Then there really will be their own team.
“He [Ten Hag] is only six months in. [I am] 100 per cent sure the Qataris will put their own people there.”
Ten Hag set to remain at Man Utd
Man Utd fans would be hugely concerned if Ten Hag was axed. The 53-year-old is finally getting the best out of several Man Utd players who have been underperforming for some time. Most of his progress could be undone if a new manager came in.
Luckily for the Man Utd faithful, it does not seem like Ten Hag is going anywhere. He was recently asked what his future will look like once the takeover goes through. He replied (via Fabrizio Romano): “I like being here at Man Utd and I’m here to thank fans for their confidence.
“I’m going to give everything to be as good as possible for this club.”

It sounds like Ten Hag will stay as Man Utd boss for as long as the Red Devils will have him. His current contract expires in summer 2025, but that could be extended if he impresses the new owners. This would leave Woerts looking rather silly with his sack prediction.
One of the reasons the Man Utd supporters like Ten Hag so much is that he has gotten the best out of forward Marcus Rashford. He is in devastating form, having netted twice against Leicester on Sunday. That helped his team record a 3-0 home victory.
That brace took Rashford’s tally for the season up to 24. Previously, his best campaign saw him break the 22-goal mark. The scary thing is that Rashford has plenty of games left to get up to 30 strikes. Man Utd remain in the Europa League, FA Cup and have reached the Carabao Cup final, too.
