Erik ten Hag says Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo is ānot for saleā after reports claimed the striker wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Widespread reports have indicated that Ronaldo has asked the Man Utd hierarchy to allow him to go if a āsatisfactoryā offer is submitted for his services.
The Portugal international re-joined the Red Devils last summer along with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane as expectations rose.
Despite scoring 24 goals in 38 matches, Ronaldo couldnāt prevent Man Utd from finishing sixth in the Premier League, while failing to qualify for the Champions League.
The latest reports claim that Ronaldo has been left unconvinced by Unitedās business in the transfer window as he looks to compete in the Champions League again next term.
But Ten Hag insists that as far as he is concerned Ronaldo is ānot for saleā and the Portugal international has not told him that he wants to leave Old Trafford.
Ten Hag told journalists in a press conference on Monday: āSo heās not with us. Thatās due to personal issues.
āWe are planning with Ronaldo for this season ā thatās it. Iām looking forward to working with him.ā
When asked whether Ronaldo has asked to leave, Ten Hag said: āHe hasnāt told me this. I have read, but as I say, Cristiano is not for sale, heās in our plans and we want to get success together.ā
On whether he has spoken to Ronaldo at all, Ten Hag added: āI spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation him and had a real good talk.ā
Harry Maguire was heavily criticised for some of his performances last season as Man Utd struggled with some reports claiming Ronaldoās influence in the dressing room had undermined the captain at times last term.
That led to rumours that Ten Hag would look to appoint a new skipper for next season but the Dutchman confirmed in his press conference that Maguire will remain as leader.
Ten Hag continued: āHarry Maguire is the captain. Heās an established captain, heās achieved a lot of success, so I donāt doubt this issue.ā
