Patrice Evra named which current Man Utd forward can become one of the world’s best, while another observer reckons he can break an all-time club record.

Breaking records at a club with the history of Manchester United is no mean feat. David de Gea recently brought up his 500th appearance for the club, though is still over 450 outings short of Ryan Giggs’ scarcely believable mark of 963.

Unfortunately for De Gea, an imminent Man Utd arrival is another sign Erik ten Hag wants to go in a different direction between the sticks.

At the other end of the pitch, Wayne Rooney tops the club’s all-time goalscoring chart with 253.

Marcus Rashford recently notched his 100th goal for the club when thundering home a header to secure all three points against West Ham.

Still only 25 and showing signs he’s developing into a more rounded attacker, Owen Hargreaves would not be surprised if Rashford hits 250 and goes beyond Rooney.

Rashford has rebounded this season in emphatic fashion following a truly dismal campaign last term. His tallies of five goals and two assists all season have already been surpassed with seven goals and three assists this time around.

Rashford recently lifted the lid on what’s sparked his turnaround. Now, via the Manchester Evening News, former United left-back Patrice Evra, has backed the forward to really hit the heights.

Evra reckons Rashford has “everything” an attacking player could possibly want in his locker. Furthermore, he claimed he claimed Rashford is “going to be one of the best players in the world, for sure.”

“In recent years some people have been disappointed with Rashford’s performances, and we were hearing more about him off the pitch than on it,” said Evra.

“He did some great things off the pitch. What was missing was him performing on the pitch, and I’m really pleased that he admitted that.

“Now, he has a different mindset. I think he’s solved his issues and is really enjoying his football under Erik ten Hag.

“The potential for greatness was always there with Rashford. Every player would like to have his speed, quality and technique. He’s got everything.

Man Utd must show patience, but will be rewarded

“He needs to mature and that’s why I think he needs to focus on football. If he does that he will achieve great things.

“I’m not surprised he’s scored 100 goals for the club. He’s going to be one of the best players in the world, for sure. But you have to give him time. There’s been a lot of frustration around him because we know what he’s capable of.

“When we think back to when he started under Louis Van Gaal, you could see the passion there, and the way he would celebrate with his friends.

“Later, we had a Rashford who looked preoccupied, and as soon as you do that and make one mistake, people kill you and say you’re a bad player.

“Finally, he’s found the right balance, and I can see that he’s happy. He’s smiling, he’s screaming when he scores goals.”
