Borg vs. McEnroe. Navratilova vs. Evert. Sampras vs. Agassi. Williams vs. Williams. Nadal vs. Federer vs. Djokovic vs. Murray. All are rivalries that have helped define and enhance the careers of the names listed.

With the triumph of Alexander Zverev at the ATP Finals in London, and that of Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Next Gen Finals in Milan, The Tennis Podcast team are wondering whether they might forge the next great tennis rivalry.

In their 8th and final podcast from The O2 Arena, Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts consider the ingredients between the two - both are young, prodigious talents, and unlike all of the current crop, it seems as if they don’t particularly like each other. “I am convinced they don’t,” said Telegraph tennis correspondent Simon Briggs on the podcast this week.

“I am so ready for Zverev vs. Tsitsipas,” said Whitaker in the latest show. “All of the current rivalries are great, but we need some McEnroe vs. Connors aggravation in the sport. Bring it on."

Last night, Zverev delivered on his gargantuan talent to add a straight sets win over Djokovic to his one against Federer the day before.

The Tennis Podcast is produced weekly in association with Telegraph Sport, and daily at the Grand Slam tournaments.
