The Swiss world number eight, the top seed at the Indian event, beat France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-5 6-2.
Wawrinka never looked in danger during the final, though Roger-Vasselin defended four of five break points against him in the opening set, before breaking twice in the second set and successfully defending the only break point against his serve.
Victory gave the 28-year-old the fifth title of his career, and his second in Chennai following his success at the tournament in 2013.
