Huddersfield squandered the chance to go second in npower League One when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Carlisle at the Galpharm Stadium.
Carlisle started the game a point outside the play-offs and they made the ideal start when they took the lead in the eighth minute. Francois Zoko passed from the left of the penalty area and on-loan Sunderland man Liam Noble slotted the ball into the bottom left of the goal.
However, the Terriers drew level through Jordan Rhodes' 18th goal of the season. Tommy Miller passed from the right with Rhodes sending home a right-footed shot for his 18th goal of the season.
Tranmere claimed a welcome win when they beat Bury 2-0 thanks to goals by Joss Labadie and Ash Taylor.
The hosts took the lead in the 24th minute when Labadie drilled home a 20-yard shot.
Mark Carrington almost levelled just before half-time but his shot was tipped round the post by Paul Rachubka.
Tranmere then sealed victory when Taylor slotted home from the six-yard box in the final minute.
