Gary Neville once revealed how Thiago Alcantara was "laughing" and "taking the f****** p*** out" of Manchester United's players after Liverpool's 4-0 victory over Manchester United in April 2022.

It has emerged to that Thiago will retire from football after his exit from Liverpool at the end of the season. During his time with the Reds, the midfielder won the League Cup twice, the FA Cup, the Community Shield and was part of Jurgen Klopp's squad that went within a whisker of winning an unprecedented quadruple in the 2021/22 season.

And toward the end of that campaign, the former Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Spain international left Neville in awe of his performance against Man United as the Reds romped to a convincing 4-0 victory.

The Spaniard was replaced by Naby Keita in the 79th minute and departed the pitch to a standing ovation.

Neville, speaking on his podcast afterwards, recalled how Thiago 'took the f******g p*** out' of United's players shortly after his dominating display.

"What Liverpool have done tonight is toyed with Manchester United," he said. "Thiago was laughing when he came off, he was laughing at them all game.

"I don’t normally swear on the Gary Neville Podcast, but he took the f****** p*** out of Manchester United tonight. That was so simple for the Liverpool players."
