Thomas Young: Wasps flanker discharged from hospital after Munster clash in Champions Cup

Wasps have released a statement with positive news regarding the health of flanker Thomas Young after he was taken to hospital in Limerick on Sunday.

The Wales international was injured during the Premiership club’s defeat to Munster in the Champions Cup at Thomond Park, which ended their last-16 hopes.

However, he has now been discharged from hospital which is a relief after Young received treatment after an apparent clash of heads with a Munster player.

“Wasps can confirm that, following an injury sustained in yesterday’s Heineken Champions Cup game, Thomas Young spent the night at the University Hospital Limerick,” Wasps said on Monday.

“After a series of scans last night and this morning he has now been discharged from hospital and will therefore be able to fly home with the club’s head of medical services later today.

“We would like to thank all at Munster Rugby and University Hospital Limerick for their care and support, as well as those within the rugby community who have reached out.”

Young, 29, won the last of his four Wales caps against Fiji in November, and he will join Cardiff next season.

Bath swoop for loan deal for Bristol Bears’ Nathan Hughes

Bristol and England international Nathan Hughes is on the move for the second time in a week after it was confirmed he has joined Bath on loan.

The Bears revealed that the switch was short-term and he’ll arrive at their struggling Premiership rivals with immediate effect to boost their squad.

Hughes will not be eligible to play for Bath against Bristol in the Premiership clash on March 5, and the Bears do have a call-back option, if required.

“It is important for Nate to get some regular quality game-time at this stage of the season to enable him to get back to his best rugby,” Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam said.
