Chelsea look to have a few rising stars in their ranks at Stamford Bridge, both already in the first-team set-up under Thomas Tuchel and out on loan.

Here are three players who could be set for a big year in 2022…

Conor Gallagher

The midfielder is the worst kept secret in football right now and has already earned his first England cap.

But there is so much more to come – and 2022 could end with him at the heart of midfield for both club and country.

Standing out at Crystal Palace is one thing – but can he come back and establish himself at Stamford Bridge? That is the big question being asked at Chelsea right now.

Thomas Tuchel and his scouts are keeping a close eye on Gallagher. This summer could see them firm up their long-standing interest in Declan Rice – but Gallagher is seen as someone who could provide cover and competition for N’Golo Kante.

Armando Broja

He might just be the next star to emerge from Chelsea’s academy after an impressive start on loan at Southampton.

At the age of 20, the Albanian is showing his eye for goal in the top flight with nine for club and country already this term.

After an encouraging loan at Vitesse last season, the next step for the forward was to prove he could do it in the Premier League. So far the signs are a resounding yes.

It will be a big ask for him to come straight back and force his way into the picture at Stamford Bridge next season, but he is certainly making the right impression.

Trevoh Chalobah

He has already come from nowhere to establish himself in Chelsea’s defence – but given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the futures of Toni Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta, this could be a summer of major upheaval at the back.

Jules Kounde is at the top of Tuchel’s defensive wish list, but there is great hope Chalobah will fully cement his place in the team over the next six months.

If he does that, he will surely get a call up from Gareth Southgate and be firmly in England’s thoughts for the World Cup.
