Three Cougars to hit the links in 2024

Mar. 29—Last season, South Decatur had just one golfer on the team. For 2024, there will be two more as the Cougars continue to look to improve this season.

Although the team will not be able to score in events with just three golfers, the Cougars are striving to improve each time they take to the course.

As a freshman last season, Ayden Billingsley was the lone Cougar participating in golf.

"Hopefully Ayden can build on his success from last season and put together a solid sophomore season," Coach Courtney Billingsley said.

New to the team this season are junior Gabe Lux and freshman Tayeden Traylor.

"Our goals are to show improvement over the course of the season. We will not be able to score as a team, but I am hoping that each individual just gets better and by conference and sectional are playing their best golf," Coach Billingsley said. "Our goal is for that to build into having a full team next year."

Coach Billingsley is looking forward to watching the Cougars progress this season.

"I am very optimistic. Between our three golfers, we have one year of experience playing high school matches. I think they will show a lot of improvement and that is what we are hoping," Coach Billingsley added.
