Three key battles in Bournemouth v Liverpool

Jack Wilshere v Jordan Henderson

Jack Wilshere was once viewed as the future of England’s midfield and a potential Three Lions captain. Injuries and loss of form have hampered the midfielder’s career and Wilshere swapped Arsenal for Bournemouth in the summer transfer window - albeit on loan. Jordan Henderson is current Liverpool captain and is expected to succeed Wayne Rooney as Three Lions skipper after deputising for the Manchester United man in the recent international break. Wilshere will have a point to prove as Henderson looks to track the Arsenal star’s box-to-box runs on Sunday afternoon.

Steve Cook v Divock Origi

Divock Origi could start up front at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Liverpool will be without Philippe Coutinho due to an ankle injury, while Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana are both coming back from fitness issues. Origi has stepped up to the mark over the past week with goals against Sunderland and Leeds United. Steve Cook will be the man tasked with keeping Origi quiet.

Brad Smith v Sadio Mane

The onus will fall on Sadio Mane to become Liverpool’s chief architect in the absence of Coutinho. The Senegal international has made a superb start to the 2016-17 season after his £34m switch from Southampton in the summer. Mane has scored six times and has made two assists in 12 games. Former Liverpool defender Smith will be tasked with keeping tabs on Mane after completing a permanent move from Anfield to Bournemouth this summer.
