Three Liverpool players who can shine at Euro 2016

Divock Origi

The Belgium international recovered from an ankle injury to feature in Europa League final as Liverpool lost 3-1 to reigning champions Sevilla. Divock Origi came into his own in Jurgen Klopp’s side in the final months of the season, managing to dislodge Daniel Sturridge as Liverpool’s first-choice striker. The 21-year-old scored five times in his final six appearances of the season for the Reds. Marc Wilmots is a fan too, as highlighted by Origi’s cameo appearances for Belgium at the 2014 World Cup.

Nathaniel Clyne

Arguably England’s best right-back, Nathaniel Clyne will be hoping to start ahead of Tottenham Hotspur rival Kyle Walker. The Liverpool star developed nicely over the course of his first season at Anfield. Perhaps helped by Alberto Moreno’s dreadful performance on the opposite wing, Clyne was one of the few Reds players to emerge with any credit from the Europa League final. The 25-year-old is quick, reads the game well and is defensively solid. He could be one of England’s standout performers in an otherwise weak-looking defence.

Joe Allen

Maybe a left-field choice for some but Joe Allen will have a key role to play in Chris Coleman’s side if Wales are to reach the knockout stages. The Liverpool midfielder lacks the glamour of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, but Klopp clearly valued Allen’s ability to influence games from the bench in the second half of the season. Wales will be well-prepared for the challenge of facing England, while Russia and Slovakia will be winnable games for the Welsh. With his future up in the air, too, Allen has it all to play for.
