Three vehicles have crashed on a major road in north Dorset.

Police, ambulance and fire services all rushed to a crash on the A354 Blandford Hill in Thornicombe at around 2.20pm.

The road is partially blocked heading east near the Charlton Marshall turn-off.

Slow traffic has been reported between Dorchester and Blandford as drivers are advised to find alternative routes.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 2.20pm to report of a three-vehicle collision.

"Location is A354 Blandford Hill.

"Recovery has been requested for the vehicles.

"Officers are in attendance with ambulance and fire services.

"One person is being taken to hospital as a precaution."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15.08hrs to a road traffic incident in Charlton Marshall, Dorset.

"We have sent a double-crewed land ambulance."
