Thunderstorms over Dorset - the latest weather forecast

The sound of crashing thunder was heard over Dorset this afternoon.

Rain swept across Weymouth around 1.30pm on Monday October 2 before loud bangs of rolling thunder were heard from 3.30pm until around 4pm.

The Met Office forecast for the South West says it will continue to be cloudy with spells of rain developing, which may turn heavy and thundery at times.

Tonight, expect a damp evening for most with outbreaks of rain continuing to move south-eastwards, becoming heavy at times. The weather will turn drier overnight with a few showers by dawn, with the weather becoming breezier. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

As for tomorrow, people can expect a brighter Tuesday with sunnier intervals and a few showers, mainly in the west. It will feel fresher with temperatures closer to average, with the weather being breezier through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Weymouth:

Monday: Cloudy. Highs of 18C. 20 per cent chance of rain at 6pm.

Tuesday: Light showers changing to sunny intervals by late morning. Highs of 18C. 40 per cent chance of rain at 6am.

Portland:

Monday: Cloudy. Highs of 17C. Fog forecast between 6-7pm.

Tuesday: Light showers changing to sunny intervals by late morning. Highs of 16C. 30 per cent chance of rain at 6am and 9am.

Dorchester:

Monday: Cloudy. Highs of 18C.

Tuesday: Light showers changing to sunny intervals by late morning. Highs of 17C. 50 per cent chance of rain at 5am.
