Thursday's Market Movers from Oddschecker

Money has come for BENBECULA at big prices in Towcester’s opening 2m handicap hurdle. The 8yo has not been in great form of late but has plummeted down the handicap having last won off a 13lb higher mark. Lightly raced so far this season, today’s faster ground conditions shouldn’t prove a problem and the 14/1 on offer last night is now as short as 4/1 with one firm (best price 7/1).

Punters only want to be on one horse In Chelmsford’s final race on the card. The Richard Hannon-trained SON OF THE STARS beat a subsequent winner by over three lengths on his racecourse debut last year and top jockey Ryan Moore takes over the reins today. Entered in the 2000 Guineas and with the yard operating at a 22% strike rate over the last 14 days, it seems all signs point to the 3yo. 2/1 on first showing, he’s now clear odds-on favourite across the board (best price 10/11).

In Wetherby’s 15:00 2m handicap chase it’s all about the 6yo BOSS DES MOTTES. A two-time winner from his 18 starts, he was last seen finishing a well beaten fourth of six last month at Catterick over 2m 3f (soft). Well-handicapped on his old form, today’s faster conditions should should suit and punters have snapped up the 8/1 on offer yesterday evening with bookies now as short as 7/2 (best price 4/1).

Back at Towcester and the Seamus Mullins-trained ARTHINGTON has been well-backed for the concluding bumper. Unplaced on both of his two starts to date, he did look to be heading in the right direction when much improved at Lingfield last month, finishing third of seven runners. Further improvement today should see him go close and the 4yo is now as short as 9/2 with one firm having been as big as 10/1 (best price 8/1).
