Tiger Woods cards a 10 — really — at Augusta's 12th
AUGUSTA, Ga. — What a difference a year makes. Last year, the 12th at Augusta National helped Tiger Woods win the Masters. This year, it rendered him sadly mortal.
In 2019, Woods came into Amen Corner close to the lead. His three closest competitors — Francesco Molinari, Brooks Koepka and Ian Poulter — all put their tee shots on 12 into Rae’s Creek. Six holes later, Woods had his fifth green jacket.
Not this year. Woods was already long out of the tournament hunt when he arrived back at 12. The result: a nightmare.

Woods put two shots into the water, then flew the green and, when punching out of the sand, dunked a third ball into the water. The result: a 10, which took his score from three-under to four-over in just one hole.
That 10 is the worst score Woods has made on any hole, ever, in his Masters career. It’s his first 10 on the PGA Tour in 23,789 holes on the PGA Tour. At least for Woods’ sake it wasn’t with anything at stake other than pride.
Woods shook off the terrible 12th to birdie five of his final six holes to finish the round at 4-over par. For the tournament, he shot 1-under.
