Tigers OF JaCoby Jones leaves game after getting drilled in face by pitch

Jones tried to turn away, but the pitch drilled him straight in the nose and mouth.

Tigers center fielder JaCoby Jones left Saturday's game against the Twins in the third inning after getting drilled in the face by a pitch.

Jones tried to move out of the way of the Justin Haley 90 mph fastball, but the pitch caught him directly in the nose/mouth area and he had blood rushing down his face.

His status should be updated after the game.

Detroit can ill-afford another long-term injury with J.D. Martinez still injured and first baseman Miguel Cabrera joining him on the disabled list Saturday morning.

Jones was replaced in the lineup by Andrew Romine.
