Tim Tebow crushes 430-foot homer in MLB showcase

No matter what you think about the prospects of Tim Tebow’s professional baseball career, give him this much: He proved Tuesday that he can hit a batting practice fastball a long distance.

The highlight of Tebow’s workout at USC — which was attended by 46 scouts from 28 different teams — was this BP bomb that flew an estimated 430 feet.

Not bad, right? It IS batting practice pitching and not game-speed, but your average dude who hasn’t played baseball in 10 years isn’t necessarily bringing that sort of power to the BP cage.

Tebow wasn’t as stellar against live pitching. Facing two former big-league pitchers in Chad Smith and David Aardsma, Tebow looked like someone whose highest-level of baseball was high school — but he still got a few decent knocks, including an opposite-field line drive off Smith that went off the wall and a grounder up the middle with a 109 mph exit velocity, per the park’s tracking system.

Elsewhere in his showcase, Tebow ran a 6.7-second 60-yard-dash (considered average for big leaguers) and worked in the outfield, catching balls and making throws. Here’s a look at the overall package:
