What titles has Daniil Medvedev won?
Daniil Medvedev has been one of the most consistent performers on the ATP Tour over the last six seasons.
Since winning his first ATP Tour title in 2018, he has bagged multiple championships every year up to the present.
He has already won three titles in 2023, stringing them together as part of a 19-match winning run that was ended in the championship match at Indian Wells.
Daniil Medvedev has a strong preference for hard courts, winning all but one of his titles to date on the surface.
As of Monday 20 March 2023, Medvedev has won 18 titles on the ATP Tour.
Four years after he turned professional, Medvedev won his first title during the 2018 Australian Open season, as he claimed the Sydney International title after coming through the qualifying tournament.
He won the 2018 Winston-Salem Open without dropping a set, defeating Steve Johnson in the final, 6–4, 6–4.
Medvedev won his first ATP 500 event at the 2018 Japan Open Tennis Championships.
In a curious piece of coincidence, Medvedev defeated home players in each of his first three title wins downing Alex de Minaur in Sydney, Johnson in North Carolina and Kei Nishikori in Tokyo.
In 2019, Medvedev added to more indoor titles with wins in St Petersburg and Sofia.
Medvedev also won his first Masters titles in 2019, claiming the Cincinnati Masters win and being crowned as the final Shanghai champion to date.
He reached four tournament finals during the 2019 US Open season in Washington, Montreal, Cincinnati, and at Flushing Meadows itself.
During his run to the US Open final he had his first major controversy during a match against Feliciano Lopez when he was fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct and $4,000 for flipping off the crowd.
The 2020 season was decimated by the pandemic and Medvedev’s two titles, in Paris and his first ATP Tour Finals win, were achieved behind closed doors.
Medvedev led Russia to the ATP Cup Title to start what would be a rollercoaster 2021 season.
He won his first title of the 2021 season at the Open 13 in Marseille in March.
In a bid to prepare for Wimbledon, Medvedev took a wildcard to enter the Mallorca Championships and went on to claim his first and to date only title on grass.
The win in Mallorca is the only one of his 18 titles not won on a hard court.
He had another great North American swing starting in Toronto, where he won his fourth Masters title.
Medvedev played party pooper at the 2021 US Open winning his maiden Grand Slam as he denied Novak Djokovic the calendar Slam.
He played five finals in 2022 but could only bag titles at Los Cabos and Vienna.
So far in 2023, Daniil Medvedev has won titles in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai taking his ATP 500 tally to four on either side of his eighth ATP 250 title at the Qatar Open.
