Todd Boehly is prepared to buy out Clearlake Capital and complete a full takeover of Chelsea, football.london understands. However, Clearlake have no intention of selling, despite reports of the relationship being at "breaking point".

football.london understands it is still professional between Boehly and Clearlake head Behdad Eghbali, but things could turn in the coming weeks, depending on the outcome of these buuyout talks.

More than £1.3billion has been spent at Stamford Bridge since Boehly and Clearlake took control of the club two years ago, although nearly two-third of the football.london readers polled do not agree with the transfer policy at the club.

Chelsea have signed plenty of players for big money on long-term contracts, and despite Mauricio Pochettino eventually getting the side playing the right way and guiding them to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League, he was allowed to leave at the end of the season, with Enzo Marecsca replacing him at the helm.

According to a report by the Telegraph, the relationship between Boehly and Clearlake is at "breaking point" but that Behdad Eghbali and Jose E Feliciano, who own Clearlake, have no intention of selling their stake and allowing Boehly to tamke the reins.

Boehly owns 38.5% of the club, in association with Hans Jorg Wyss and Mark Walter, with Clearlake owning the other 61.5% of the club. Neither side appears interested in selling up and it looks as if the pair will have to work together to keep Chelsea on the right path.

Chelsea are on their fourth permanent manager since the takeover from Roman Abramovich was completed in 2022, with a huge overhaul in the playing squad. A number of players had shown their surprise at Pochettino leaving the club in the summer after a good end to the season.

What happens in the days and weeks to come will be interesting to see, particularly if neither side is willing to change their stance. Reports have suggested that Chelsea could be on the verge of "civil war" behind the scenes.

After years of upheaval st Stamford Bridge, changes to the ownership structure would only serve to make further problems in west London. Watch this space.
