The mood around Chelsea is changing and there is growing concern Todd Boehly will sack Graham Potter if the next two matches end in defeat, according to a report.

Potter is under serious pressure at Chelsea amid the club’s poor form. They have won just once in their last 11 matches since the start of the year, which is quite simply a dreadful run of results for a club like Chelsea.

On February 18, the Blues were beaten 1-0 at home by the Premier League’s bottom club, Southampton. And things went from bad to worse when they lost to London rivals Tottenham at the weekend.

Hakim Ziyech had a red card overturned by VAR before Oliver Skipp gave Spurs the lead with a stunning strike. Harry Kane then finished at the back post from a corner to hand Spurs a 2-0 victory.

Earlier on Monday, Fabrizio Romano provided his information on Potter’s future amid the growing pressure. He claimed Chelsea want to give the English coach more time. This fits in with what Ben Jacobs told TEAMtalk recently.

However, the situation will change if Chelsea lose their upcoming matches, according to a big update from The Telegraph. They state that if Potter’s men come out on the losing side to Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund, then Potter will be axed.

Those games are described as being ‘make or break’ for Potter. While the Chelsea hierarchy have faith in him as things stand, their patience is wearing thin. And it is claimed the mood around Stamford Bridge is changing, with Potter getting ever closer to the exit door.

It is not just senior Blues officials who are seriously concerned. The Telegraph believe some of the Chelsea squad are unsure whether Potter can turn things around. While those who are not playing regularly are unhappy with the manager’s selections, as would be expected.

Todd Boehly losing patience with Graham Potter

Chairman Todd Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali will be in attendance when Chelsea face Leeds at home on Saturday and when Dortmund visit west London a week on Tuesday. The report describes this as ‘significant’, as the chiefs will be on hand to give Potter his marching orders straight away if both of those outings end in losses.

With Potter’s future looking bleak, talk is growing about who might come in to replace him. iNews have named five candidates Chelsea are looking at.

They are Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique, Jose Mourinho and Diego Simeone.

Arguably the name who stands out most from that list is Mourinho. He has already had two spells with Chelsea, the first from 2004-2007 and the second from 2013-2015.

The Portuguese has enjoyed great success with Chelsea, winning trophies such as the Premier League title, FA Cup and EFL Cup. However, it is unclear whether he would be willing to leave Roma for a third stint at Chelsea.

Whoever replaces Potter will have a massive job on their hands. The squad is incredibly bloated after so many new arrivals in the last two transfer windows. It is impossible to give decent game time to all of the senior players, resulting in dressing room tensions rising.

It is obvious that several players need to be sold so Potter, or his successor, can keep the mood of the squad in good shape. Hakim Ziyech, Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic are all being tipped for moves away.

Meanwhile, an expensive Chelsea deal this summer will impact Man Utd’s chances of landing a striker, according to a report.
