Todd Cantwell backed by Rangers flop to be one of the season's BEST signings

Todd Cantwell has been backed to be one of the BEST signings of the season.

A divisive figure at Rangers, the midfielder left Ibrox for Blackburn Rovers on transfer deadline day after submitting two transfer requests. Cantwell has yet to reach the heights many expected of him and it was only a few years ago that the former Norwich City star was rated as a £40million player during a period when Arsenal had been keeping tabs.

After a turbulent 18 months in Glasgow, Cantwell will now attempt to relaunch his career back down south. And ex-Gers flop Franny Jeffers, who also had a short stint at Ewood Park, has tipped the 26-year-old to take the EFL Championship by storm.

He told Football League World: "Cantwell has shown his quality in the past at Norwich and just needs to get game time and his confidence back, and he can produce top quality performances game after game. Come the end of the season, it could be one of the signings of the season."

Cantwell spent the summer training with the Gers B team but could be in line to make his Rovers debut this weekend at home to Bristol City.
