Ahead of the Tokyo Paralympics, we’ve picked out six British athletes from six different sports who look set to shine for ParalympicsGB.

On the track, Britain will have a host of big names in competition, including David Weir, Jonnie Peacock and Kadeena Cox.

None of them, however, come in with the kind of recent form of T34 star Hannah Cockroft, who will be looking to add to her haul of five gold medals from across the past two Games.

In 2012, aged just 20 and competing in front of a capacity crowd in London, she took gold in the 100m and 200m. In Rio, amid pressure to build on her success, she took titles in the 100m, 400m and 800m.

The 29-year-old broke her own world records in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m earlier this year, though she will only defend her Olympic titles in the shortest and longest of those distances in Tokyo as the others are not on the programme this time around.

Like Paralympic table tennis champion Will Bayley, her profile has been raised since the last Olympics by several television roles, including on The Great British Bake Off.

“The TV cameras didn’t bother me; cooking in front of Paul Hollywood definitely that, every day that, so scary,” she said.

“Racing, I practise every day, I could do it in my sleep, it’s my job.”
