Tom Johnstone's injury timeline as Wakefield Trinity signing suffers leg break
The sight of Tom Johnstone being helped from the field in Catalans' defeat to Castleford Tigers last week was of major concern to the Dragons, but also those involved with Wakefield Trinity.
The England winger is returning to the West Yorkshire club next year, with Johnstone one of the club's marquee signings heading into 2025 when they expect to be back in Super League.
It has now been confirmed that Johnstone has fractured his fibula, which is set to result in a significant layoff for the 28-year-old.

However, Wakefield supporters can breath a sigh of relief, as Johnstone's injury isn't one that will disrupt his return to the club. In fact, Johnstone could even return to action later this season.
A fractured fibula, while a serious injury, does not have as long of a recovery period as many people may think. Johnstone is expected to miss between six and eight weeks of action. As a result, the winger should be able to return to the field for the run-in, as Catalans look to secure another Grand Final ticket.
Johnstone has been in excellent form throughout his stint in Perpignan. In 46 appearances for the club, he has scored 37 tries. That form saw him named in the Super League Dream Team last year, as well as being shortlisted for the Man of Steel.
