Tom Trbojevic faces a race against time to be fit for State of Origin next month following an injury against Parramatta Eels.

New South Wales could be without star centre or full-back Trbojevic after he appeared to have dislocated his shoulder on Friday.

In an attempt to prevent Tom Opacic from scoring, the Manly number one suffered the injury that saw him leave the field.

He was clearly in pain following the collision mid-way through the second half. His side went on to lose 22-20 to the Eels in Round 11.

The injury came in just his third match back from a knee problem. He had made just six appearances ahead of the game due to injuries.

Long-term injury for State of Origin star?

State of Origin 2022 kicks-off on June 8 from Stadium Australia, Sydney.

Brad Fittler’s New South Wales side will go in with plenty of confidence – the Blues have won 19 of the 29 Origin matches at the venue. However, they could now be without Trbojevic alongside other star names.

The side could also be without Latrell Mitchell through injury. Sydney Roosters loose forward Victor Radley will also likely miss out on making his debut for New South Wales.

Radley has been on the cusp of Blues selection for the past three seasons. But each year he has been unavailable due to injury or suspension

He suffered an ankle injury in last Sunday’s 31-24 defeat of Parramatta. If surgery is required, he could be out for up to 10 weeks.

However, England boss Shaun Wane has revealed that Radley could have a chance to represent England at the Rugby League World Cup if he makes himself available.

South Sydney captain Cameron Murray and Melbourne full-back Ryan Papenhuyzen are also on the injured list for New South Wales.
