West Ham will reportedly listen to offers of around £30m for Tomas Soucek, as Aston Villa prepare to make their first move.

Soucek has been a standout performer during his time at West Ham. Alongside Declan Rice, the duo have formed a solid midfield partnership at the London Stadium, and played a major role in helping West Ham reach the Europa League semi-finals. Now, that midfield duo is at risk of breaking up, with Soucek prepared to leave the Hammers.

According to The Sun, Aston Villa are showing a strong interest in the potential signing of Soucek.

Newcastle United are also interested in the Czech international, however are  looking at alternative options.

This comes alongside news that West Ham are prepared to listen to offers within the £30m price range.

His midfield partner Rice has been valued much higher, with the club looking for £150m for his services.

Soucek featured in 35 league games last campaign, contributing five goals and a further assist.

His impressive form helped West Ham achieve a Europa Conference League spot, as they narrowly missed out on a top six finish.

As a result of his impressive performances, West Ham did offer Soucek a contract extension.

The 27-year-old has two years remaining on a four-year deal he signed when joining the club from Slavia Prague.

However, the Hammers were unwilling to offer Soucek an increased wage. This led to a disruption in contract negotiations, and eventually Soucek pulled out of the extension.

This was in February, and the club are still hopeful that he will remain for next season.

Nevertheless, it is still believed that the club have not changed their stance on payments. Soucek now understands that if he remains at West Ham, he will not recieve a pay rise in the near future.

This allows Aston Villa an opportunity to make a move. Having already signed Philippe Coutinho on a permanent basis, Steven Gerrard’s side are clearly looking for a new midfield next season.

Boubakar Kamara also joined on a free after his contract expired at Marseille.

At £30m, the asking price is within Aston Villa’s financial capabilities. And given his form last season, it would be a surprise if Villa chose not to make an offer around this fee.
