Tommy Fury Shares Hospital Scans To Prove Jake Paul Withdrawal Was Genuine

British boxer Tommy Fury took to Instagram to share the hospital documentation and scans to validate his withdrawal from his upcoming bout with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The much-anticipated fight, originally set for December 18th, was set to be fought in Tampa, Florida. However, 22-year-old Fury had to withdraw from the bout on medical grounds, citing a broken rib and bacterial chest infection.

During months and months of trash-talking and online mocking, it was stipulated that Fury — half-brother to two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury —would be legally required to change his name if he lost the bout with Paul.

In the Instagram post, Fury explains that he was "not being able to breathe" during his training sessions ahead of the Jake Paul fight and was "coughing up huge amounts of phlegm all the time," with many "sleepless nights". Despite this, Fury says, he continued to train for another month.

"Four weeks passed, and we decided to have a sparring session, and I took a little clip to the body," he continues in the post. "And, because my body was so weak due to the virus inside of me, I instantly knew something wasn’t right.

Fury also shared the medical scans in the video showing a "clean break" in his ribcage and "multiple fractures". The video has since been viewed over a million times. "There’s no other fight that I want out there, that’s the fight I want next," he continued."Everyone’s going to have their own opinions... but that there is nothing, when it comes down to it, that I can do about being medically unfit to fight."
