Tomoki Iwata becomes latest Birmingham transfer capture as Celtic man joins on permanent deal

Tomoki Iwata has become the latest SPFL man to sign on for Birmingham City in a deadline day move.

The Celtic midfielder has penned a permanent deal with the English League One side with the Hoops making signings in the midfield area which will lessen his game time even further. Former Hoops coach Chris Davies is in charge at St Andrew's and has been putting his SPFL knowledge to good use.

The Blues completed the signing of left-back Alex Cochrane from Hearts earlier in the summer window. And in recent days they did some business with Rangers, taking defender Ben Davies on loan for the season and paying £300,000 to sign winger Scott Wright on a permanent deal.

They've now turned their attentions to Celtic and completed a loan swoop for defensive midfielder Iwata who has been with the Hoops since Ange Postecoglou signed him in 2023.
