Michigan point-spread bettors could finally take a sigh of relief.
After D.J. Wilson had nailed both his free throws to give the No. 7 seed Wolverines a 92-88lead over No. 10 seed Oklahoma State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with less than four seconds left, it appeared those who put money down on Michigan -2.5 could finally start counting their pennies.
But if the Cowboys' Jawun Evans wasn't going to win the game, he was at least going to take a lot of money from a lot of people, as the Sporting News third-team All-American guardnailed a 3-pointer as the clock expired, giving Oklahoma State a cover to hang its headon heading back to Stillwater.
It was Evans' only made 3-pointerof the game.
According to VegasInsider.com, Michigan covering the point spread was the top betting trend of the day, while the Oklahoma State cover was the secondmost popular line.
So, needless to say, that "meaningless" three by Evans probably meant quite a lot to a lot of people in America.
