The clock is ticking. Tick tock, tick tock. After West Brom’s latest loss, this time a 4-0 loss to Chelsea at home, it looks like Tony Pulis’ time at The Hawthorns may have finally run out. This time, fans couldn’t hold back their anger, even the most loyal and stubborn Albion fans left the stadium early and joined in on the anti-Pulis chants. The West Brom owner, Guochuan Lai, was also in attendance. Gulp.

For months, fans have been left frustrated by the lack of attacking ambition shown by Pulis, with shots on target hard to come by. This time, it wasn’t our attacking play that frustrated fans so much, it was our defending.

Yes, you heard that right. This was a Tony Pulis team that didn’t look like they knew how to defend. All four of Chelsea’s goals could have been prevented with a more solid shape, and a bit more concentration from West Brom’s defenders.

Obviously, Antonio Conte’s squad is full of top-class players who can score goals against any defence in the world, but today it looked like they weren’t even trying, such was the standard of defending on show.

Tony Pulis certainly has his faults, but defending was the one thing he could do extremely well, now it seems even that is beyond him. After the game, Pulis seemed resigned to his fate and with the owner in attendance to watch such a poor performance, it’s surely over a matter of hours before the Welshman is relieved of his duties.
