Tottenham’s ‘ambitious pitch’ to Man Utd-linked Kane sees ‘top manager target’ gain ‘advantage’
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to make an ‘ambitious pitch’ to Harry Kane in an attempt to ward off interest from Manchester United.
A vital couple of months are coming up for Spurs. Kane is out of contract in 2024 and it has been suggested in recent days that he will look to leave this summer.
The forward previously looked for a move elsewhere in 2021 when Manchester City were interested in him. A transfer could not be agreed as Tottenham set ludicrous demands for a player who still had three years running on his contract.
A transfer is more doable this summer as Kane will be entering the final year of his contract. Man City will no longer be in for him as they have Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
But Man Utd and Chelsea are expected to be in the market for a new striker. It has been reported that Kane could cost as much as £100m.
Tottenham will no doubt be busy behind the scenes as they are set to let Antonio Conte leave before his contract expires in the summer.

The head coach has regularly butted heads with the club’s hierarchy in recent months and he hit out at his players after their disappointing 3-3 draw against Southampton last weekend.
Ryan Mason is set to take charge of Spurs on an interim basis until the summer. A more experienced manager will likely replace the 31-year-old before next season.
Football Insider are reporting that Spurs ‘could make Mauricio Pochettino their top manager target as part of an ambitious pitch to keep Kane at the club’.
The striker has a ‘tremendous relationship with Pochettino’ and his return ‘could tempt the player to stay at Tottenham beyond the summer’.
This will not be easy, though. Manchester United are ‘pushing hard’ to sign the England international following another trophyless season at Spurs.
The ‘panic’ is setting in at Tottenham. Pochettino therefore has an ‘advantage’ over other manager candidates ‘as he is seen as the best option to keep Kane at the club for at least another year’.
Earlier this week, Ben Jacobs reported that Pochettino is ‘extremely open to a Spurs return’.
‘Pochettino is extremely open to a Spurs return and retains a strong professional and personal relationship with Levy. But Levy isn’t the only decision maker, even though his opinion carries huge weight. Fabio Paratici will lead on any appointment and he views Enrique as a strong candidate. Both options would be popular choices amongst the fanbase,’ Jacobs wrote for Caught Offside.
‘Pochettino has taken his time despite receiving lots of offers since leaving PSG. He was under consideration from Chelsea, even though Graham Potter was always the leading candidate. But he was not entirely sold on the vision. If Poch is to go back to Spurs, he’ll want to understand the dynamic between himself and Paratici first.
