Chris Davies is in talks over making his first move into management which would mean leaving his role as Ange Postecoglou's assistant head coach at Tottenham to become the new manager of Birmingham City.

The 39-year-old coach has been in demand this season and turned down the chance to become Swansea City boss midway through the campaign in order to continue working with Postecoglou and the Spurs coaching staff. Now with the season over, Tottenham have given permission for Davies to speak to Birmingham.

The now League One club went through a string of managers last season in John Eustace, Wayne Rooney and Tony Mowbray before suffering relegation from the Championship. Now the club, co-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, have held talks with the highly-rated Spurs coach to get them back into the second division.

If Davies does depart Tottenham then Postecoglou will have to decide whether to bring in a new assistant head coach or promote either Matt Wells or Ryan Mason to the role and then bring in another coach.
